I was watching Norm Abrams on "New Yankee Workshop" (should have been working on my boat.) He poured his mixed epoxy on a plastic picnic plate. I immediately saw two advantages: a thin layer of epoxy is less likely to pot because it cannot build up as much heat. It also makes the epoxy very accessible to a foam roller for application. The only drawback is that you have to carry it very carefully across the shop so as to not spill!
