Weighted Rudder

Chuck,

Here is a photo of how we weighted the kickup rudder on our Mayfly 14. We took a hunk of steel at the recommended weight, located it at the recommended center of gravity, and routed out both halves of our rudder to accomodate it (you can see the steel piece in the rudder half on the left). We epoxy coated the steel to prevent rusting, and epoxied the weight into a routed out half of the rudder, prior to laminating the rudder together. The rectangular frame is a jig to keep the router where it belongs while routing (I think this photo was taken after we'd removed the clamps from the jig).
